How Positivity Affects Happiness

"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." ~ Wayne Dyer

We've all heard the saying that happiness is a state of mind. And it's true – how we view the world has a lot to do with our overall happiness. But what exactly affects our perspective?

According to some experts, one of the main factors that determines how happy we are is our tendency to be positive or negative. Positivity, or the ability to see things in a positive light, has been shown to have a significant impact on our happiness. In fact, one study found that simply thinking positive thoughts can actually make you happier. Positivity is infectious, and it has the power to brighten up not just your day, but also the days of those around you.

So what does this mean for us? It means that if we want to be happier, we need to work on being more positive. But how do we do that?

Here are a few tips:

1. Be mindful of your thoughts.

The first step is becoming aware of your thoughts. When you start to pay attention, you'll likely notice that most of your thoughts are negative. This is normal, but it's important to make an effort to replace these negative thoughts with positive ones.

2. Look for the good in every situation.

Whenever something happens – whether it's good or bad – try to find something positive about it. Even when things are going wrong, there's usually something good that can be found if you look for it. Focusing on the positives will help you stay positive overall.

3. Be grateful for what you have.

It's easy to take things for granted, but gratitude is one of the keys to happiness. When you focus on all the things you're grateful for, it puts things into perspective and makes you happier overall. So make a habit of listing off three things each day that you're grateful for.

4. Smile!

A smile is one of the simplest ways to be positive and happy. It not only makes you feel better, but it also makes those around you feel better too! So smile often and see how much better you feel as a result.
