Gratitude Guide

In a world where stress levels are higher than ever it can be so easy to get frustrated about the things you don’t have yet or haven’t achieved yet, it can begin to feel like you have no control over your life and that you’re just stuck in a rut.

Things feel like they’re just going from bad to worse and you feel like giving up and going to live on a deserted island by yourself,  because you hate everyone and you hate everything and your life is oh so bad! Sound familiar? You wake up late, you spill coffee down your clean shirt, you get stuck in traffic, you’re going to a job you hate, everyone speaks to you like a piece of shit, you’ve missed that promotion, you’re late on your deadlines, you’ve had some bad news and so on and so on… What if I was to tell you that you could change this situation right away? You can and it all starts with you.

When you take a moment to show gratitude and fully appreciate everything you do have and everything that you have achieved in life you will see what a good place you’re in at the moment, how far you have come and how much you have achieved so far. There are so many people in the world with less than you have right now and they would give anything to experience the life you have. There are people taking their last breath, people with health problems, people who have just lost everything so there is no way you can tell me that you don’t have anything to be grateful for! How often do we take the simple things for granted in life? Clean air, nature, our health, our limbs, our eyesight, our hearing, our family, our friends, the list goes on and on… The truth is most humans never fully appreciate something until it is no longer there. Why wait until that stage? Live in the moment and be grateful for what you have today.

If you don’t already write gratitude lists everyday then I highly recommend doing it. Not only do gratitude lists give you time to reflect on just how privileged you really are but they instantly make you feel better if you’re feeling down or frustrated and gratitude is the easiest way to bring forward everything that you desire. I used to use a simple notebook to write my gratitude lists but I have since purchased a gratitude book specifically for this purpose. I write down at least 10 things I’m grateful for everyday and I read over them a few times before I go to bed and when I wake up – my mood instantly lifts and I feel very content and grateful.

If you’re struggling with life right now or angry/frustrated/irritated then definitely give gratitude lists a try. What are you grateful for today?
